Marian Silberstein began studying the violin at age 7 in Lexington, KY in a public
school program, and played in the Central Kentucky Youth Symphony when the group was invited to perform
three-week concert tour of Romania and Russia. Throughout a professional career in science,
engineering, and now patent law, she has played in amateur and semi-professional orchestras
including the Cornell Symphony, Cornell Chamber Orchestra, the MIT Symphony, the Bedford Symphony,
and the New England Philharmonic. Marian has had the benefit of private study with Brice Farrar
and Carol Sindell. She is now in her third season as a violinist in the Columbia Symphony.
Marian is also the associate concertmaster of the Beaverton Chamber Symphony, and she enjoys
performing chamber music as a member of the Evergreen piano trio and various chamber ensembles,
as well as teaching a few violin students at String Studio of Orenco Station in Hillsboro.
