I grew up in Portland, went to Lincoln High School, Williams College and University of Oregon Medical School (now OHSU). I was in private practice of general surgery for almost 30 years in Salem, doing a day a week during that time at OHSU, then Trauma/Critical Care twice a month, and finally went full time in 2000 at OHSU, no longer practicing in Salem. I have won 5 teaching awards over the last 16 years, and now teach open surgrical techniques snf oprtatiions to surgical residents. I have been a pianist/composer since age 4, and still do both. Five of my compositions have been played by orchestras in the area. Currently the Akropolis Reed Quintet has picked up my Reed Quintet and, hopefully will perform it at various times.
