Joe Accuardi, Tuba

Joe Accuardi was born and raised in the Portland area. He studied music at Portland State University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Masters Degree in Education. Joe is currently the Director of Bands at Prairie High School, in Vancouver, WA, and Artistic Director/Conductor of the Portland Gay Symphonic Band. Joe began playing tuba his sophomore year of high school, under the tutelage of Jay Steele. At Portland State, Joe studied with Ja'Ttik Clark for the duration of his undergraduate degree. Joe has performed regularly with many ensembles in the area, including the Pacific Crest Wind Symphony, Oregon Symphonic Band, and the Newport Symphony Orchestra. He is currently pursuing his National Board Certification in Instrumental Education, and hopes to pursue a Ph.D in music in the future.
