Percussionist Florian Conzetti studied at the Konservatorium
for Musik in Bern, Switzerland, the Eastman School of Music, and the Peabody
Conservatory, where he earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree as a student
of musicologist John Spitzer and marimbist Robert van Sice.
Conzetti is founder and co-director of Northwest New Music, a Portland-based
contemporary chamber music ensemble. He has appeared at Music@Menlo (the Chamber
Music Society of Lincoln Center's summer festival), the Astoria Music Festival,
CalPerformances, and Stanford Lively Arts, and has performed with the San Francisco
Contemporary Music Players, Berkeley Contemporary Chamber Players, Meridian Arts
Ensemble, Alarm Will Sound, and the Bern Symphony Orchestra, among others. He has
recorded for Albany and Innova Records.
Conzetti was formerly on the faculty of the University of California at Berkeley
and the University of San Francisco, and currently coaches the percussionists of the
Portland Youth Philharmonic Association and teaches at Portland State University
and Linfield College.
