Erin Ferree was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. She
started her music education at the age of 8, after begging her mom to sign her up for
violin lessons. While growing up, Erin was a member of many school, community, and
state orchestras. During her senior year in high school, she was the concertmaster
of the Nevada All-State Orchestra where she worked under the direction of Mr. Dean
Angeles, the then director of string education at Loyola University New Orleans.
Erin subsequently went on to study at Loyola where her violin professor was Oregon
native and former concertmaster of PYP, Valerie Poullette. Erin received her Bachelor's
in Music Education in 1996 and has taught orchestra in Norcross, GA, Reno, NV, and
currently teaches orchestra in the North Clackamas School District. She is the proud
teacher of over 100 enthusiastic young musicians.
Erin has been a member of the Portland Columbia Symphony since 2002. She is also
a member of the Portland Chamber Orchestra, and has performed with Bravo Vancouver,
Oregon Chamber Players, and subbed with the Vancouver Symphony. Not too long ago,
Erin discovered a hidden passion for chamber music and has been exploring that ever
since. When not teaching or performing, she enjoys doing bow repair for Schuback Violin
Shop, reading and riding her bicycle. Erin lives in Portland with her husband Scott Conary,
an artist, and their two cats, Ella and Mercury.
