Celebrated violin virtuoso Elizabeth Pitcairn, along with her legendary 1720 "Red Mendelssohn" Stradivarius violin,
joins the Portland Columbia Symphony to perform John Corigliano's breathtaking Chaconne from the film The Red Violin,
which weaves a story spanning three centuries in the life of this magnificent instrument. Steven Byess conducts the
orchestra in Leopold Stokowski's lush orchestration of Toccata and Fugue in D minor,
one of J.S. Bach's most iconic works, as well as the kaleidoscopic set of variations and
character studies in Elgar's Enigma Variations.
