Sally has been playing violin since the age of 3. Her father, George Hardie, a music
teacher and member of the Oregon Symphony, was her first teacher. Sally later studied
with Frank Holman, Anthony Porto, and Raphael Spiro. Sally was a member of the Portland
Junior Symphony (now the Portland Youth Philharmonic) for six seasons. She also
played with the Seattle Pacific College Orchestra and the Palatine Hill Orchestra.
Sally played in the first concert of CSO on February 15, 1983. She has played with the Columbia
Symphony Orchestra for the past nine seasons, where she sometimes shares a stand with her sister, Susan Charon,
also a member of the violin section.
Sally has been a teacher with the Tigard -Tualatin and Beaverton School Districts for
sixteen years. Her favorite past-times include spending time with her two teen-aged sons,
beach-combing, golfing and reading.
