Originally from Boulder, CO, Nic has now adopted Portland as his new home.
He currently runs a private violin studio of students of all ages and levels and plays with the
Portland Columbia Symphony Orchestra among other orchestras. Prior to his life in Portland,
Nic earned his Bachelors of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Colorado,
studying under Oswald Lehnert and members of the Takács Quartet. In the summers during his
college years, Nic performed with the Colorado Light Opera and in local music festivals.
Upon graduation, he played with the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra and the Boulder Chamber
Orchestra. In 2009, Nic made the move to Portland to study with Carol Sindell at Portland State
University and to finally live in the Pacific Northwest, which he has loved since childhood.
Nic received his Masters of Music in Violin Performance from Portland State University in 2011.
On top of his teaching and orchestral playing, Nic enjoys playing chamber music with his friends and
exploring the mountains of the Northwest.
