Lori has played with the CSO since arriving in Portland in 1986, and is also a long-time member of the Newport Symphony and the Chehalem Quartet. She has performed with the Portland Chamber Orchestra, Oregon Chamber Players and orchestras in Germany and in Delaware. She began her musical life with the piano and added violin at age 8 in Tacoma, where she played with the Tacoma Youth Symphony. As a student at the University of Washington she played with the UW orchestra, including a performance in Washington DC at the Kennedy Center which was very exciting for a kid who had never been on an airplane before.

After receiving a chemical engineering degree from UW she worked for over a decade as an engineer in Delaware, Germany and Portland, enjoyed climbing, biking, whitewater kayaking and spelunking around the world and is now doing environmental and sustainability work in the non-profit world. Lori currently manages the Sustainable Oregon Schools Initiative, and lives in Beaverton with her husband and teenage twins.
